Full Name: Petie Gordon Mitchell
Age & Year: Thirteen, 3rd Year
Birthday: 6th June
Gender: Male
Blood: Muggle-Born
Hogwarts House: Hufflepuff
Wand: Flexible & Springy, Thirteen Inch Elm-Wood & Phoenix Feather core.
Creature: The twins both share a Great Horned Owl named Ben.
Sibling: Ricky Mitchell
Physical Description: He stands at five foot even, is a Mid-tone-Caucasian, has swept back or neatly
styled streaked dark blonde hair and has deep dark chocolate brown eyes. He is quite scrawny to look at and is not particularly muscular. He stands with a
somewhat defeated stance even though he is of average build. When he is not wearing his school uniform, he tries matching colours when it comes to clothing.
His likely choices in cold weather would be a beanie, long trousers or combats with sweaters and thin sleeveless zipper jacket, un-done unless the weather is
really cold or it is raining. His most likely get-up for warm weather would be short-sleeved button-up shirts with khaki pants or slack shorts. Aside from his
less confident facial expression and his choice of clothing, he is physically identical in every other detail to his twin brother Ricky, with their only true
differences lying in their drastically different personalities.
Personality: If natural-born-selection is anything to go by, then Petie definitely got the worst half of
the deal when it came to good quality personality traits. He could accurately be described as; a complete opposite of his twin brother. He is not very bright
and struggles when learning new things, which for him is normally a slow process. He is rather shy and introverted though not completely friendless, but he
does not go out of his way to make new friends and is very stubborn, though he would talk to people if they initiated conversation with him and can become a
dependable and loyal friend. He is slightly Agoraphobic and believes himself to be as delicate as a balloon, wincing at the very thought of rough-and-tumble
activates, such as contact sports and rarely takes part in any such activate. If he does get involved in anything that he deems to be 'too much', then
he becomes very melodramatic, often to the point of foolishness. He makes up for some of his flaws, by trying to at least dress respectably and have a
reasonable sense of style, though his efforts seem almost pointless since he rarely goes out sociably. Regardless of all these negative aspects to his
personality, it does not necessarily make him any less of a good person and he does have the potential to surprise. Although he does appear to be victimised
allot by his brother, it is by no means 'a one-way street', as with all brotherly relationships, he regularly tries to get even. He is the younger of
the two twins but only by three minutes and he makes sure to point this fact out anytime the subject arises from his elder brother.
Likes: Despite his lack of social interaction, he likes playing most board games with his friends with
chess being his favourite. He also enjoys online role-playing which takes up allot of his time and is the primary reason that he doesn't get out much. His
defining individual hobby is his collecting. Some of his collections are items like; comic books or movie memorabilia, but he has quite a few others that are a
little more abstract like; bank notes. He is a bit of a picky eater, but enjoys most of his mothers cooking and particularly likes pasta or fish dishes. Both
the twins' favourite hobbies are sailing and anything to do with boating and it is one of the only things that they both do together and are exceptionally
good at. They have both become pretty good at simple boat construction as well thanks to there parents profession.
Dislikes: He hates contact sports and even the thought of them make him shiver. He doesn't like large
crowds and will make any excuse to get away if an area fills up. He does not like things like change to his routine and so he was not exactly 'jumping for
joy' when the family joined the magical community and isn't really looking forward to his time at a strange school, being in an even stranger location.
He doesn't like bullies though whenever anyone brings up the topic of him and his brother, he gets defensive, quoting; 'That's different. It
isn't bullying its just messing around.' He doesn't like being interrupted when he is reading.
Family: He is one of two twins and both his mother and father are muggles.
Mother - Hannah Mitchell
Father - Douglas Mitchell
Brother - Ricky Mitchell
History: He was born into a Muggle family and lives in the small community of Yarmouth on the Isle of
White just three miles off of England's southern coast. He spent most of his early life feuding with his twin brother, just like most brothers do
naturally. Their motives, aside from being only natural, mainly stemmed from the fact that they wanted to be different from each other, but no matter how hard
they tried, they always seemed to be interested in the same things and think the same way. Petie's parents ran a business constructing luxury yachts, and
other small hire boats for tourists. As was normal for children of their age, both Petie and Ricky became interested in their parent's profession because
it was such a big every-day part of the town and it sparked their creativity during the impressionable part of their lives. It was at the age of six that for
no clear reason, the two twins gradually began drifting apart in their current interests. They were still brothers, that would never change, and they still
both enjoyed sailing, but that appeared to be the end of all the similarities they had once had. They found their own identities and interests and their
parents lamely joked at that stage; 'This change is quite out of the blue'. At the age of eight, after numerous naggings and requests of their parents,
both Petie and Ricky were given permission to finally start construction of their own Hobie Catamaran.
Over those past couple of years their parents had recognised their keen interest in boating and boat construction, and from watching them when they allowed the
twins to help them with their work, they had finally decided that they had sufficient technical know-how and had earned the right to try a solo project under
supervision. Over those few months building their very own two-man catamaran from the ground up, the brothers had worked well together, barely needing
assistance and enjoying every moment that they spent on it, even bonding in the way that most parents would be glad to see their children. Almost as one, the
way they had been before, but without the discontent. Of course, this was only because they were both doing something they really enjoyed. When they were not
working on the boat they were back to their normal separate lives, with Petie cooped up in his room, reading, sorting through his collections, or else glued to
his computer and role playing online. On rare occasions he might come out and join Ricky and his friends if they were watching a movie that he liked or play
video games. No signs of magic were seen around the family until their eleventh birthday which just happened to be the day of the Yarmouth charity fete with
family activates based on the harbour. The twins had always taken part in the festivities and had even won first place certificates and lots of money for
charity in the two running years previously. They had again entered the Hobie Catamaran that they themselves had constructed.
The town fete had very good organisers and safety was always there top priority, especially for the families taking part in the race. Life boats were had been
assigned to each competing boat in case anyone got into any difficulties and distanced themselves so they would not interfere with the other racers. It was at
the halfway stage of this very same race that the dormant magic that flowed through their veins sparked for the very first time. The five competing boats had
skimmed along, converting the chilly breeze into their own powerful driving engines, while the other five life boats, chugging lazily nearby. Petie and Ricky
had just come about at the furthest marker buoy in the course, hanging off the edge of the catamaran by beeline to stop their running angle, speed and sudden
change of direction from unseating them. They would have to make their way back to the finish line, which was roughly half a nautical mile ahead. The wind was
against them now and it would be for the remainder of the race, meaning they would have to make a few tacks to catch the wind and pick up some lost speed.
Unfortunately, the twin's main-sail winch-line had snapped earlier on in the race and it had bought the whole main sail folding down on top of them. They
had wasted a few moments drifting whilst making some quick temporary repairs before they could hoist the sail back up. During that short time they lost the
lead, being overtaken by two boats, one of which that was captained by Ricky's best friend.
The Mitchell's in third place, the lead boat at least five boat lengths ahead of them and forced into a slow dragging pace windward, it would mean they
would be unlikely to reclaim the lead. It was at that point that it happened. Their gaze was determinedly on the boats ahead, their minds were a blur thinking
of a strategy to gain ground on the leaders and suddenly a strange noise pierced the calm air as the leader's carbon-fibred mast snapped in two as if it
were a mere match stick. The broken portion of the mast had swayed around, the main sail flapping pathetically from it, and for one perilous moment had looked
as if it were about to crash down onto the head on the teenage skipper who had seemed to be in two minds about whether or not to let the shock take hold of him
or else dive overboard. At the last moment, however, the mast had rose into the air, shredding the canvas sail as the long and heavy pencil shaped carbon
fibred mast, stopped falling 'mid-timber' and changed direction. This was odd since the wind had seemed to die at the moment the mast decided to rise a
further two feet into the air, separating completely from the central support and appeared to hover unsupported, before it had leant off to starboard and
propelled itself through the air, 'arrow-like' and pierced straight through the sail of the second boat ahead of them. The mast shredded swiftly though
the material and fell hitting the boom heavily which, in turn buckled the entire central support, braking the vessel up completely and bringing down the mast
and plunging the crew into the icy water where they bobbed around in their life preservers, with stunned looks on their faces.
The twins still only managed second place as they had initially been as shocked as everyone else who had witnessed what had happened spending so much time
gawping as the life boats converged on the two crippled catamarans that the team behind them had finally managed to catch some breeze and overtook, having
missed seeing the accident due to the Mitchell's main sail blocking their view. They had been quite un-phased by the two crippled vessels. Of course people
only speculated about what had happened since it wasn't uncommon for the competitors to 'wash out' every now and then, and since no one was hurt it
was seen as just a simple accident, although no one was willing to offer an explanation as to how a high tension professional carbon mast with little-to-no
wind resistance had suddenly decided to snap and fly around unsupported. The days following the twin's first spark of magic were met with an unusual amount
of visits to their home from badly dressed couriers and door to door salesmen who actually identified themselves as being sent by the governments Ministry of
Magic branch. At first the family all believe it to be a big joke and it took quite a few more visits before they were willing to invite one of them in to
explain themselves and make further arrangements with the family. Unlike Pure-blood and Half-blood families who lived in the wizarding world day in and day
out, the Mitchell's were about to join a whole new secret world that they never could have dreamed existed.
As it turned out, such a transition was no small step and the Ministry of Magic had special procedures for welcoming 'new-blood' families into the
magical world. Roughly five days after the boating incident, Mr and Mrs Mitchell opened the door to two Ministry-to-Hogwarts liaison officers that they had
been expecting by appointment. They sat down and had a lengthy and detailed discussion about what had happened the previous week during the race and why. The
liaisons, answered the families questions and even performed certain spells to show examples of what the twins could soon be capable of with the right
training, much to Petie's alarm. Presenting them with their Hogwarts acceptance letters, they were told that if they did not learn to focus their power
properly, the random acts of uncontrolled magic could become harmful. After the conversation, the twins and their parents were invited on a Muggle integration
tour. This was basically a guided tour of one of the key areas of the magical world, starting with their fire place being magically upgraded and added to the
Floo Network. The family were then given a course on how to use it and were then taken through their own fireplace to Diagon Alley where they met up with a
welcoming committee that received them warmly and included three other new blood families.
During the rest of the day the group were guided around and helped to shop for school supplies, the twins wands and where generally all treated as guests of
honour, with the witch and wizard locals all being very friendly and literally popped out of know where to answer any of the questions that the families had.
Once they all had everything that they needed and had seen more than they could imagine, they had been chauffeured in to a magically enlarged car that seemed
capable of seating twenty people comfortably yet still managed to move through congested traffic easier than a bicycle. They had all been driven to
London's Kings Cross train station and taken to the magical platform nine and three quarters where they were instructed on how and when they would be
leaving for Hogwarts as well as giving them all instructions on platform entry. At the end of the day the Mitchell's where taken back home and presented
with a special welcoming gift: A four year old Great Horned Owl named Ben. Petie's view of the whole situation was very sceptical and although he never
really said anything to his parents he was, and still is under the impression that from the time the wizards had started coming to their home, he had fell
asleep and started having a wild dream and believed that he just had not woken up yet.
